Charon stayed back behind Eswarth. He noted that most of the interactions were happening in front of the centaur. As more of the Satyrs started to gather Charon planned on the majority of them to continue to gather before and possibly to the sides of the great beast.

Charon quickly made some more calculations based upon the direction the party was headed and the apparent population dispersion throughout the camp. He moved to what he thought would be the ideal quadrant behind the centaur that would minimize his contact with the Satyrs. While this was far from an idea situation, Charon felt more comfortable at the "business end" of the centaur than in amongst the crowd.

Serephus smiled broadly at onlookers as the group past by many tents. Even with the history of the Satyrs being what it was, Maragarn's family still held a good deal of influence within the tribe. While many blamed them for causing this curse, those same still looked to them to make things right.

The tent that they finally stopped at was very large, and could easily accomodate the entire group, and thensome.

"Maragarn," Came a voice from just inside. The voice belonged to , Maragarn's grandfather. Strangely, it didn't sound very sickly. "Come in, lad. Bring your friends."

Fir'ath, who had been quietly admiring the obvious strengths and physical properties of the Satyr's, dismounted Mithril so as to join the group headed in the tent.

Maragarn ducked under the flap his father held up for him. His eyes snapped open in surprise to see his Grandfather standing in the tent, dressed as though he'd been up and about all day. This was not frame of a sick man. Even more incredulous, the older Satyr even looked like he might have gained a few pounds since the last time Maragarn saw him.

With a broad smile, welcomed his grandson home with open arms, casting a wink under the open flap at Serephus.

Maragarn lost his breath...and blinked...repeatedly. With an obvious look of confusion on his face he stammered out what words he could, "What?...How?...But you..." He looked to the ground in contemplation trying work out the logic of the healthy elder.

Turning to his father, Maragarn, bewildered and surprised, said, "Da, didn't you say..." he looked back at his grandsire who displayed a wide smile as bright as the sun, "Granda, how did you get better?"

"I'm afraid I've been well the whole time," he said gently.

"You've been tested and passed, my grandson. You have always had trouble seeing the strength within yourself that we have always seen." He paused for the words to settle in.

Maragarn lost his breath as though he'd been hit in the chest with a hammer. His eyes darted about as he quickley reviewed his life and his gransire's words in regards to it. A hot feeling came to his head and his heart sunk.

He realized that he had never had the confidence that others had because he had the perception that he was unable to provide the way others could. He realized that through all of these years he was the one who limited him and undermined his confidence.

He found himself looking at the ground again as he sorted this epiphany through. His eyes welled up slightly and looked at his grandsire squarely and simply said, "Thank you..."

Maragarn found himself pulled into a tight embrace. When his grandfather let go, he said, "Look not at the ground any longer, Maragarn. Stand straight and proud. You are the future of our race."

Serephus, still standing in the doorway stepped outside and let the flap close behind him. He turned and addressed Eswarth.

"Once again, thank you for your help, and that of your people. We owe you a great debt. I have seen the future of our people, and Maragarn plays a very big role, but his success was unsure. It was necessary to show him that he is capable."

Eswarth smiled and bowed low to the elderly satyr. "'Twas a pleasure to be of service to you, sir. Su'tharc will be well pleased at the success of our venture. Add to that the pleasure of meeting new friends, and we've been profitable indeed."

'Well, it appears this was a fat waste of time wasn't it?' he inwardly asked the Fate which put him there in the tent with such sentimental fools.

He kept still though, he still admitted to himself the obvious strength of the race, and would bear out such emotional idiocy.

(OOC: No your about right. Inwardly he is a  a bit arrogant and racist, but wears his two-faced persona pretty well, as the "dick" doesn't come out. - ok, that could have been worded better)

"It is good that all are well, but if none here need my services we should be on our way. We've still got a long journey ahead of us and time is short," stated Charon.  He started to feel very uncomfortable again. Charon could handle being in groups as long as he had an important goal to focus on. Now that his services would not be needed, the panic began to set in.

Serephus nodded at the human in understanding. He turned to his son and his visage hardend a bit.

"You've been tested Maragarn, and you've passed. This was however, only the beginning. You've always held your close your beliefs and strong your convictions. You will be the one to bare our story and restore our honor. It will be your burden to shed our shame, that we may walk once again wtih our elven cousins, and hold high our heads."

He paused only a moment to let his son consider the weight of the task he'd just laid at his son's feet.

"Your first test was to prevent the loss of something important to you. This is a small thing when compared to the task of regaining something important to hundreds of others, that has already been lost."

He stepped closer to his son and locked his gaze. He spoke softly, "Fate created the Satyr because there were none yet." Serephus had a way of saying things that sounded obvious and thoughtless, but held great meaning if the listening were truely listening.

Maragarn never thought of his race in those terms. He had always been taught that they were elves in shame not Satyrs with pride. While he personally held no reason to be considered an outcast from other races, he was continually surrounded by those who did.

Perhaps his kin were changing their viewpoints. Perhaps it was Maragarn who was chosen to strike out in order to change the viwpoints of his kin. Just maybe, there were many hopes that he was carrying for his tribe. He felt slightly embarressed to be thinking in such egocentric terms.

"Sire, I'm not sure where to even begin. But as the hunter knows, it is the first step that leads to the kill."

Maragarn knew that his time here was short. That in order to complete the overwhelming task of building the reputation for his tribe he must venture out. The thought was not nearly as terrifying this time as it was before.

Maragarn looked to everyone in the ceremonial tent and looked back to his sire, "We will see a day when the curse of the gods will be our blessing...I promise you that."

Turning to the rest of his travel companions he said, "If you'll have me, I would consider it an honor to travel and fight by your sides."
