The Summoning of Sayer

After the long road, Sayer was escorted to his room to find it in clean perfection. Everything was placed as he left it and all of the linens were crisp and scented. It was a large room by any standard, and afforded him the luxury that the grand keep could offer.

There were oiled cleansing waters and a variety of wines, teas, and steaming water at his disposal. Breads, cheeses of all sorts, and exotic fruits lay on the table and smelled positively divine after being on the road for the past few days.

The windows overlooking the courtyard park were slightly tinted and wavy making the view beyond them slightly distorted. Still, it was a soothing and majestic view of what was probably the model of what a garden should be.

Sayer surveyed his room with satisfaction.  He had been away for several weeks, but it felt so much longer.  He turned slowly, looking at the items that he kept in his sleeping chambers: the sturdy bookcase jammed with worn books and scrolls, the maps on the walls detailing the subdivisions of Kurr and its neighboring kingdoms, the oversized painted porcelain vase given as a gift by a female patron, and lastly the broad writing desk that stood by the window.  "Of all of my possessions, it was you that I missed most," Sayer murmured to the desk as he ran his fingers across the smooth surface.  He thought about the wash table that he had used as a writing desk at the Thornhedge back in Threshold and shook his head.  How did I manage?

Sayer tugged on the ink-stained chord that would summon a servant.  It was time to begin.

I sincerely have no idea which direction to take this thread. :/

If this is a side story, then we can do it in an ICD thread.  If it's an important part of the main plot, then I prefer to do it in a sit-down session.

So, Wildfire: is this a side story, or part of the main plot?

It's intent was to be more of an information sort of thread...ergo, the Arch-Duke would give you the "state of the city" address and the politics of the surrounding city-states. I wanted to do this in writing so that it could be referred back to and pondered by the readers as well as the participants. However, if it is preffered that it be done in person then I'm fine with that as well.

So in answer to your question, it is part of the main plot but on a wholistic scale. Either medium (ICD or face to face) will suffice.

"Milord Sayer" Mae said quietly, "you request something? I heard the bell ring" Her voice was just another welcoming aspect of being back home in Kurr.

The door opened slightly and Mae's voice came through just a touch louder, "Milord, is your room okay? I tried to keep it as clean and polished as possible until you returned. I have also been told to tell you that Arch-Duke Vallensun has requested your presence in his study with Duchess Nicola. May I get you something before the audience? Some honey tea perhaps? It's good for one's voice"

Sayer could hear the reserved but anxious tone in Mae's words.
