No worries.  I don't read these threads often enough for it to be a concern to either of us. :)

As an aside, I can't read this color text with the colors used in my theme.

I sincerely have no idea which direction to take this thread. :/

If this is a side story, then we can do it in an ICD thread.  If it's an important part of the main plot, then I prefer to do it in a sit-down session.

So, Wildfire: is this a side story, or part of the main plot?

unfortunately Leap Attack is not a fighter feat

...but Catfolk Pounce (Races of the Wild, page 148) is a fighter feat!  This feat allows catfolk to charge and make a full attacks (multiple blows) against flat-footed opponents.  I like Leap Attack, but this is good, too.

Perhaps instead of Power Attack, I could take Improved Initiative (PHB 96, granting +4 on initiative rolls) as a 5th level fighter; this would help Mirri with charging and attacking flat-footed opponents.

Hmmm...

...or I could multiclass at 5th level, concentrating on becoming a fighter and gaining a fighter bonus feat (Power Attack?), and again at 6th level (gaining a second fighter feat -- unfortunately Leap Attack is not a fighter feat), and a bonus feat for being 6th level (Leap of Heavens).

Yeah, I'm giving this far too much thought.

So, as part of my previous nerdy weekend, I started plotting a course for Mirri's feats.  I'm thinking:

  * 6th level: Leap of Heavens (PHB2, p. 80) : Jumps without 20' move do not double the jump DC; jumps with 20' movement gain +5 bonus

  * 9th level: Power Attack (PHB, p. 98) : take a penalty to hit and add that number to damage

  * 12th: Leap Attack (Complete Adventurer, p. 110) [Prereq : Power Attack] : Combine jump and charge to attack an opponent using power attack; double Power Attack damage

Of course I will probably change my mind repeatedly, but there it is: my roadmap for a jumpy barbarian!

Mirri stood at the doorway of the tavern.  She scanned the faces of the crowd, searching for Belwar, but instead found that the black-clad Saul was easier to spot.

She approached the bar, taking note of the number of bodies in here, and the locations of the exits.

Mirri took note of Pike's words and left the smith's workshop.  She crossed the courtyard and entered the tavern where Belwar and Saul sat.

Mirri's ear twitched.  "A sturdy haft will do, forge-master," she said, speaking the Common tongue in a softer tone.  The human had surprised her: she had expected him to be insulted and arrogantly defend his crafting abilities.  Instead his frankness had impressed her.

As she turned to leave, she glaced back at Pike.  "But not too sturdy," she added.  "The haft must have some flexibility.  An unyeilding haft will crack upon impact."  She stepped towards the exit.

Mirri returned slowly to the doorway, her eyes narrowed and fixed appraisingly upon the blacksmith.  She opened her mouth to speak to the human and, after hesitating for a long moment, she instead turned her gaze to the elf.

"You there, young sir apprentice", she spoke in Evlish.  "My spear is broken.  The head was crafted by the Elven metal-lordsmith Aelaean Ornlaea, and the haft was crafted by the Elven carpenter-lordsmith Shealear Ofroheoa Haearaen. Is your master's skill worthy to repair a weapon created by these revered artisans?  Answer me truthfully and use honest words."

Her words were polite, but her manner was impatient and her tone was aloof.

Mirri's eyes slowly traced a line from the human's heavy face to his outstretched hand.  Mirri slapped what remained of the spear's wooden haft into the blacksmith's palm.

"You can fix my spear."  Without waiting for a reply, she turned to leave.
