Urgrosh spent his afternoon moving about the courtyard of the keep as if in a trance.   He practiced his battle maneuvers over and over until he perfected each of them.   More than once, he nearly lost control of the mighty weapon.   But his concentration held until he heard someone call to him.   At that exact moment he was attempting "Durvin's parry and chop".    Much to his dismay, Urgrosh's grip on his weapon faltered and he launched it towards a pile of hay near the stables.   With a lot of trepidation Urgrosh watched helplessly as his weapon spun end over end accross the courtyard.    He uttered a sigh of relief when the axe end of the weapon buried itself deeply into the hay without harming anyone.

Slowly turning, looking all the while like he meant to throw the urgrosh, he stared down at the dwarf and replied "Whachu wont Bruddah duarf?"

"Uhh.   No.   Aye go get weppon.   Yu no tuch.   Urgrosh was my fathas weppon.   Varry Speshal tu me."   Urgrosh takes three steps towards the pile of hay and stops, turning around to face Zurn.   "Yu no how tu fight wit urgrosh?  How yu no if yu not from clan?"

Speaking in Dwarven, Urgrosh smiles at the dwarf and speaks much more clearly than he does in the common language of men.  "To a dwarf the clan is everything.   You're Da was probably outcast for some crime.   If that's true I should not even speak to you, for the clan would shun you too."

Hearing how harsh his statement sounded, Urgrosh takes a deep breath and cuts off Zurn's reponse by saying, "But the clan does show compassion when its warranted.   You chose to speak to me, an ugly orc.   Therefore I will return the kindness and allow you to wield my urgrosh as a sign of my friendship."   Carefully, he hands the beautifully adorned weapon to the small dwarf.  "Be careful, its heavy."

(In Dwarven)   With a look of sincere gratitude, the orc smiles a very toothy (tusky?) grin and says, "I appreciate yer offer.    For now I'm tryin to hold onto the damned thing.   It seems that using both ends in the same sequence is pretty dicey.    Sometimes I just lose control and send it flying in any old direction.   Any thoughts?"   Urgrosh looks at the dwarf, but he suspects that Zurn really doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to the finer points of handling the complex weapon.

(Common) "Uh...Ok.   Move Urgrosh..."   He stares blankly lost in thought and scratches his head, giving the impression of the stupid orc.

(In dwarven) "My Da used to say, "Don't think about it.   Thinking is bad!"   I never understood that until now.   Thanks Zurn, you've helped me unravel one of those mysteries of my childhood!    Thinking ISbad!!"   Urgrosh smiles and begins to whirl his weapon subconciously and he appears much more skilled.

Thanks for clarifying your position Johan.   I as a player now understand what you and Jarmok are saying.   I mostly agree with it too.   Except that as Fraz wrote I think we're in for a fight if we go below.   Wherever the priests are, there will also be the dark priest and his minions.   If Vervishkuk isn't in the fort I say we go back to Threshold without exploring the fort, because we can't take on a Priest of Takhisis right now.

I was wondering though, was it possible for the fishcook to climb down the cliff and into the cave like a spider?  If he did he wouldn't leave any tracks on the beach.   Did we see him jump over the cliff or run down it?  Could he reasonably have made it into the water from the cliff or would he have to hit the becah, because he couldn't jump far enough?

If he belly flopped or cannon balled somehow,  people in threshold would have heard him.   that is not a quiet maneuver.

Whether we go into the fort or simply go back to Threshold, we need to work together.   We are so banged up right now and with little resources, that we must stick together.   Sending half the party back to Threshold while the other half explores the fort  is a mistake.   Both groups are very weak and in serious danger of being overcome in a battle.   When I originally posted asking you guys to consider exploring the fort,  I assumed it would be all of us together.   We are not strong enough to divide this way and survive.  ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL?

By 10th level we will be able to call Dale "Master", because no one will want to mess with him.  Sleeps spell will be a kindness and the only reason he uses them so much is that they are so effective!

Dale has long, flowing, fine brown hair.   He wears a short well groomed brown beard that covers much of a large scar that starts below his left eye and trails down his cheek to his chin.  The scar is jagged and red.
His eyes are a greyish glacial blue.   His chiseled features and hawklike nose would combine to make him very hansome if it were'nt for the ugly angry red scar on the side of his face.   Although Dale is only 27 he carries himself in a mature fashion and looks like he could easily be 8-15 years older.   He stands at 6'2'' and weighs nearly 230 pounds.  He usually wears dark colors, preferring black and brown.   He often weras leather armor and a long black cloak.

Dale addresses the assembled party.  "Listen everyone, I think Vervishcook went into the fortress.   He jumped off of the cliff, but there is a small beach below the cliff.    He probably went into a riverside entrance to the fortress.    The river is too strong and often too shallow for him to swim.   And I know he didn't simply vanish.   I think we should get in there and try to finish him off.   He was looking pretty hagard and that's why he ran away.   HE WAS SERIOUSLY WOUNDED!!!   AND HE WAS AFRAID OF US!!!

Looking at Ragnor,  then Kit and Sayer, finally settling on Jarmok and  Maal, Dale continues,    "I know we're banged up, but I think we should attack him now while we have him injured.  If we let him get away, he will just come back here with more men and they will shore up the defenses of this place.  We'll never succeed then.   We need to kill him now and try to destroy this fortess as best we can!!   Maybe we can light fires inside it so that they at least can't live inside of it."

"The prisoner back in Threshold told us to expect twenty men including Vervishcook.   WE KILLED TWENTY MEN!!  If Vervishcook had more soldiers here, they would be attacking us right now!   There is no one else to help him."

Dale looks every person in the eye.   He stares particularly hard at Jarmok and Maal.  "I know you two are hurt really bad, but we need to strike now when he's weak.   Don't let this bastard escape and come back with more men.   WE CAN DO THIS!!!!"   Dale voice gets very gravelly as he yells and he gives a very animated pump of his fist to emphasize his words.    "ARE YOU GUYS WITH ME?!!!

Dale stares particularly at Maal, challenging her not to back away from a fight.

Dale nods in respect to the wildlander.   "Aye Maal. I knew you'd be willin to go.   I'm not afraid of death either.  I think we can get at him if we go down into the keep.   He's too big to fit through human size halls and we can bottle him up.   He won't be able to use his tail if we face him in a human size area.   If we keep our distance, we can just fire arrow after arrow into him.   If we let this guy go we will regret it later."
