Title: 12.22.2132 – Interview in Utopia.
Post by: Dray on April 05, 2008, 09:03:08 AM
(OOC: This thread continues where 12.22.2132 – Interview in ShantyTown left off)

Temmt, Renee and Emma made their way out of ShantyTown without incident. Temmit was pleasantly surprised that they didn't encountered obnoxious soldiers during their visit, attributing their luck to perhaps the time of the day.

'No matter, your face didn't meet fist and you now have yet another lovely young lady in the guild.' Smokey said.

Temmit agreed.

Making their way back to Nottingham Hall and the Nutcase, Renee went to buy the three of them more coffee and for her and Emma, a small loaf of bread along with some cheese. Meanwhile, Temmit and Emma stayed out of site, since there was even more kids hanging out at the popular spot then there had been earlier that morning.

"I still can't believe our luck in finding the Hunter's Medallion". Emma said to him while they waited around the corner of a shop.

"I'd rather be lucky than good."

Emma nodded, but was then quiet while they waited. Her mind returned to some far away place that it had been most of that morning.

Renee came back with the girls snack and the coffee.

"I'm pretty sure she has no idea what that trinket is." Temmit said quietly. As far as she knows, it's just an old trinket handed down from her maternal grandfather."

"Thank you." He said, eagerly accepting the coffee. This particular cup wasn't quite as good as usual, but Temmit was pretty firm in the notion that there was no such thing as a bad cup of coffee.

"As to the auger," he want on. "If I take the meaning to be pertinent to our three errands, I'd say that we've already stumbled upon 'hope'...'laughter' and 'danger' to follow." He shrugged and took another sip. "Of course, we might have stumbled upon danger, I suppose." He smiled slightly.

Renee, in between bites of bread and cheese said, "I would be willing to bet she was hope, and if that is the case I wonder what we stand to gain by walking into the chance of danger? For the chance at a laugh?"

Emma continued, "and who will be in danger? Us, or the one of the two candidates I wonder?"

"There's a lot there that I don't know." Temmit admitted. "But were I to guess, I'd have to say me, as it was my fortune that was told."

"At the same time, she said '...will lead to...', and the fact that she said 'one will...another will...and one will...' kind of leaves one's imagination to fill in some large gaps."

He sighed a bit and took another drink. "I think that we've really no option but to move forward with the next errands. Ignorance is never a good ally." That last was a quote that Temmit had read somewhere, although exactly where, he couldn't just then say.

"I would have to agree Temmit," Renee said, and Emma gave a nod as well.

"Well, let's go then. But let's be on our guard. Should anything happen, we should scatter our separate ways and meet up in the alley behind  Get Here from There (http://griznuq.com/index.php?topic=8647.0). The Riverfront district is always busy, and with all this snow, it will be harder for anyone to track us with all the traffic that the area has." Renee said, and started to head towards the part of the theater district Emma had nicknamed Utopia.

"Speaking of which," Emma offered, "Leslie said she may do an impromptu performance there tonight, and she told me to tell the two of you. She is trying really hard to accommodate the guild members since they usually miss it due to overcrowding on scheduled nights."

"That small thing is such a sweetie. But if anything should happen, that is another good reason to head to her parents tavern, the concert, impromptu or not, would need to be cancelled. We can't have all the members in one place should danger present itself," Renee answered. Temmit and Emma had trotted up beside her and flanked her as they walked.

They stopped talking as they finally rounded around the huge Nottingham Hall and headed into the residence area of Utopia. Instead of the muddy narrow roads that they had found in ShantyTown, they now walked upon shoveled cobblestone streets, streets that lead between beautiful homes of the finest architecture. Each home had its own surrounding yard with snow-covered trees in between. The place was serene and quiet, and those that passed, including a couple of guards, gave the three teenagers a wary eye. One guard almost stopped them, but upon recognizing Renee decided that the three were no trouble.

Emma spoke after the guard walked bye without so much as a word. "I think I should work on my reputation in the city. Perhaps if I express new interest in presenting public matters for the church, I can use my father's position to get public recognition for who I am, might make things easier."

"I have always thought that, and to be honest, I am surprised you were able to avoid the spot-light for so long," Renee replied.

"Well, when your father doesn't love you or think you are worthy, it's easy to stay in the shadow. But seriously, your reputation saves you a lot of hassle and gets you in positions to do things that other members aren't able to do. That is what I need to work on, leadership will require it."

Temmit silently mourned his empty coffee cup. He sighed disconsolately and stowed the vessel away in his bag.

"It's up here on the left," Renee announced.

All the houses were of course the same, as was the case in most wealthy sections of the city, but Renee pointed to it as they walked past. There was no sign of a girl playing outside in the snow as they had hoped.

Renee stopped and turned to Temmit. "Why don't you start building a snowman in this very spot. Emma and I will look semi-interested for a few turns and then look like disgruntled friends off to do some shopping. We will come back in a hand or so..."

At Temmit's questioning look she replied, "Build LOTS of snowmen!"

Emma laughed while Renee looked at him with a teasing smile.

"We will come back and waste time showing you what we bought, then fool around in the snow until she comes out," she said.

"And if all that doesn't work I have another idea," she finished, taking Emma by the arm and leading her away.

Temmit delivered a long, withering look at Renee's suggestion. She knew that he loathed "playing".

"Can you describe the kid that we're supposed to be looking for?" He asked. He could concieve that karma might be catching up with him; after all, he had eaten a nice breakfast while Renee and Emma had waited outside earlier.

Renee turned around and said quickly, "Little girl, about age 9, long-blonde hair, named Sally."

"HAVE FUN!"

He could here them both giggle as they walked away to the shops.

Temmit grunted his irritation behind them and set to work amassing a pile of snow that might vaguely resemble a human.

He set to making two opposing snow men, and then set to work at making a pile of snowballs for each. about a score for each snowman should be right, he thought.

As he worked...'played', he supposed...he kept a wary eye upon the indicated house.

Much to his surprise a little girl, as described came out of the house. She wore what appeared to be an expensive fur jackets, leather boots and padded leather leggings and yet another one of those wool hats with the cotton ball pig-tails.

She ran over to him as if she had never seen another person play with snow before.

"Hey! Building a snowman? Can I help?!" she asked.

The girl was a pretty little thing, with unusual grey-colored eyes.

"Of course." Temmit said in his best friendly tone. "I was thinking that I'd build two of them facing each other in a snowball fight."

The girl giggled at the thought and rushed over to one of Temmit's crude snowmen. "Ok, I will finish this one, you work on that one."

"Finish it?" Temmit exclaimed in mock indignity. "I thought that one *was* finished!" Then he looked as though he was realizing something. "Wait," he said. "Are you one of those people who actually can make a *good* snowman?"

The girl laughed in absolute glee. "It doesn't take too much to make a *good* one, let me show you!"

With that, the girl knocked off the twigs that Temmit had used for arms and she started shaping new arms out of snow.

Temmit tried hard to poorly emulate the little girl's sculpting. She would likely be more at ease if he were inept.

The girl finished the two arms, doing a fairly decent job, and turned to Temmit's snowman and giggled.

"It's like you have never built a snowman before!" she said and laughed some more.

"I never have." Temmit admitted. "It looks like you've made dozens every year. What are you...a sculptor that looks like a kid?"

The girl continued to laugh, a natural state for the happy little thing Temmit surmised.

"Name is Sally Maiden, Age 9, and I am definitely not a sculptor. My mom is all bent that I can't follow in her footsteps, as I don't like art at all. I want to go into Harvesters and work on a farm!" she said.

"And one leads to laughter." Smokey said, echoeing his own thoughts.

"Well, Sally, my name is Temmit." He responded. "And Safe Haven needs as many Harvesters as Artists."

"Hello Temmit."

"I hope so. My mother doesn't want me to be a lowly farmer, thinking it beneath me, but I am going to prove her wrong. Anyone can be what they want to be, even if your wealthy doesn't mean you can't love the earth and the bounty it provides," she said maturely.

She then looked around.

"Of course, it's a bit cold right now." She said and winked at him.

She laughed again. "I don't mind it so much, you just can't grow anything out here right now is all I meant."

"Do you live around here? What brings an older boy out in front of my house to build snowmen?"

Temmit shrugged. "I was out walking with a couple of friends when I realized that they were duping me into going shopping. I figured this would be better than shopping. Let them carry their own purchases, you know?"

He looked around the area. "So this is your house, huh? Nice to be rich?" He spent an inordinate amount of time surveying the grounds. "I'll bet you even have a spiffy cottage on the lake."

"No, we did, but it burnt down a short time ago."

"Nope, no one was in the house at the time, although my Dad was all mad because it destroyed his sailboat too," she lied. Temmit could immediate see that she didn't want to reveal that she was in the fire.

One assumes that she gets nervous?

"Well, that's a reliefe." Temmit said. "Still, one wonders how a fire might start in a place where there were no people."

With the last comment the small girl went from nervous to scared.

She said with a lot of stuttering. "Oh well, it was a just a um...erm, a coal in the fireplace sparked and got onto a bear-skin throw rug beside the hearth and caught flame. Yeah, that was all."

Post by: Johan on April 06, 2008, 05:55:13 PM
Temmit regarded the girl for a moment, then laughed. "Well, that's not likely!" He said, laughing. "It remains that if there was no one there, there would be no fire in the fireplace!"

He could tell that the girl was getting skitterish, and her emotions really told him what he needed to know: Sally was indeed in that house when it burned down, and her family wanted her to keep it a secret. He further deduced that this was indeed because her survival was a mystery.

"Time to make her more comfortable, or else she'll run." Smokey said. Temmit quite agreed.

"I love mysteries." He said simply. "Like, how you can make such a great snowman. Are you able to make one that might fall apart when hit by snowballs?" He hoped that she would be relieved to have the subject change, and that she might stick around long enough for Renee and Emma to return. He cast about, wondering where they  might be.

"Well, truth be told, I think mine would be harder to knock down that yours." she said smiling at him. He did note that her anxiety did reduce substantially at the mention of snow tomfoolery.

"Tell you what, I will make the balls of snow for the men, and you set them up with your sticks and such, then we can pretend we are the Outer-Rim Defense fighting off the mighty Karh'Thul demons!" she announced.

It always troubled Temmit how easily the violence of real-life turned into the games of children.

He did as ordered and soon they had eight snowmen in a line with sticks for arms and tentacles. They then readied a huge amount of snowball ammunition and prepared their attack. It was then that Temmit saw Renee and Emma come around the corner at the end of the street and head towards them.

Dray, can you comment please upon the amount of time that passed:

From: Renee & Emma leave
To: Sally arrives

From: Sally gets skitterish
To: Renee & Emma return

Current Time

Thanks.

Temmit warmed his hands beneath his arms for a moment.

About blasted time. Temmit thought. They'd better have brought me a cup of coffee after forcing me through all of this foolishness. I hope Harrison enjoys his tenure as Lieutenant.

"All right." He said. "You ready to see what falls and what doesn't?"

He picked up and readied a snowball, a second one in his off-hand.

"3...2...1...ATTAAAACK!"

Renee & Emma left: 15 turns of Temmit snowman building, then sally arrives.

Sally & Temmit make snowmen together, 10 more turns go bye.

Sally & Temmit talk, she gets nervous, 4 more turns go bye.

Sally & Temmit build a total of 8 snowmen and about 100 snowballs, 30 more turns goes bye.

In total a hand goes bye and then Renee and Emma are spotted.

The total destruction of the snowmen was a victory that Sally would not soon forget. Stick-shaped tentacles and claws flew from the enemy with amazing speed as her and Temmit pelted them with snowballs. Renee and Emma came up behind them and watched the sport with big grins on their faces.

Renee was indeed holding a big wooden mug of steaming-hot coffee.

Out of breath and out of snowballs, Temmit begrudgingly agreed that Sally's snowmen were in fact more robust than his own. She seemed as arrogant as any woman when their point was proven. Temmit assumed that this was a gender-based trait.

At the finish of the mayhem he turned to Renee and Emma, and gratefully accepting the coffee from his leader, he introduced Sally to his two friends, ensuring that they understood that he thought that there was merit in Renee's hunch that Sally was gifted.

I thought I'd only use indirect conversation for a change...spread my literary wings, as it were.  :)

The three of them spoke at length about the lack of strength in Temmit's snowmen, which seemed to please the older girls as much as it did the young lass. More importantly it got Sally comfortable enough for when Renee asked her, "So are your parents home Sally? I am surprised they didn't come out to join us."

"Oh no, they won't be home all weekend, I am what they call a latch-key kid," she said like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Renee gave Temmit a look that said, 'You really didn't have to play in the snow all this time silly', and then asked Sally, "mind if the three of us come in for a warm up before we head off?"

Sally seemed happy at the thought. "Sure, I don't see anything wrong with that," and led them indoors.

Renee walked beside Temmit as they followed the young girl and gave him a wink.

I most certainly did have to play outside all this time. Temmit thought in his irritation. Else how would I have been able to get her happy and accepting?

Even I'm cold. Smokey said whimsically.

"Did you ladies happen to buy any food?" Temmit asked. "I seem to have not only worked up a cold, but also a hunger out here."

Sally immediately chimed in, her hand on the doorknob, "I have some cinnamin rolls with honey glazing made fresh this morning from the Tremont Street Cafe. You are all more than welcome to each have one."

With that, she opened the door to the small but luxurious home. After the glass-inlaid oak door there was a large common room with a cathedral ceiling, a fireplace big enough to almost step into had a small fire going and the immediate warmth of the place was very inviting. At the back of the room was a partial wall beyond which appeared to be a very fancy kitchen. A stairwell opposite their entry presumable lead to the upstairs.

"Come on in, please put your boots, hats and cloaks here," she said while pointing at some cast iron hooks clevery arranged on the wall and over a mosaic tile on the floor where the boots were to go.

As she finished taking her own wraps off she said, "I will go put the rolls on the stove for a moment, make yourselves warm by the fire, put another log in if you wish."

She walked over to the kitchen, which Temmit assumed was still within earshot. The three of them walked over to the fire and warmed their hands.

"So this is what these places look like from inside." Emma said without really looking around further.

"Meet expectations?" Renee asked.

"Nope. I figured they would be gaudier," she replied.

"Why?"

Emma just shrugged. Temmit could see that just being in one of the Utopia houses miffed her off a bit.

Sally came back in the room. "Ok, rolls are on, if you guys aren't in a hurry we could play a game or something?"

Temmit started to realize how alone this girl actually was.

With that, and with a bit of a strange look from Sally, they sat down on the couch and chairs surrounding the fireplace. Renee broke the ice before it could be formed. "So Sally, tell us about yourself, what do you do all weekend with this kind of time?"

"Well, I like to read books from the library, mostly about agriculture. As I was saying to Temmit, I want to own a farm some day, so I am trying to learn as much as I can before going into the Harvesters House," she said in one breath.

"An admirable goal." Renee said simply.

"Thanks. And at night I like to go to Nottingham Hall or the Symphany orchestra for the shows. My friend Samantha usually joins me, she is a couple houses over. So did you do any shopping?" she asked looking over at the small bags Emma and Renee brought in.

Temmits mind shut down for a bit while the girls spent almost a hand talking not only about what they bought, but about each and every single store that was 'so cold' to shop in. As it turned out, he served the cinnamin rolls while they talked, and talked, and talked. One plus though, the sweet roll from the most expensive restaurant in the Kingdom, was just about the closest thing to a slice of heaven that Temmit ever tasted.

During this time, in between the coffee and rolls, and the inane banter, Temmit will be refocussing his mind (regaining his psionic focus)

(OOC: you were successful regaining your Psionic Focus, for the banter of the three girls lasted over a hand and they ignored you as you watched and mediated by the fire).

"...and lastly I bought this." Renee was talking.

"What is that?" Sally asked, now completely comfortable with her new older girl friends.

"It is a liquid candy that Nutcase is selling today, me and Emma already had one, would you like to try it?" Renee asked. Smokey was only a half-tick ahead of Temmit in realizing what was being said and they both turned their thoughts back to the room together.

"Sure! What's it taste like?" Sally asked as she took it from Renee without hesitation.

"Well, it's like blueberries, but you have to drink the whole thing down to the bottom, because that is where the sugar is," Renee replied.

Sally looked at it for a moment. "Is it okay if I drink it now? I feel bad that Temmit didn't have one."

Renee looked over at Temmit, taking the opportunity to see if he was indeed back in the real world with them, upon discovering he was, she turned back to the little girl. "Temmit doesn't like sugar, he is more into drinking coffee," she said.

"Alrighty then, here goes nothing!" she said and downed the liquid like a girl told by her parent to quickly swallow medicine, drinking the whole thing in one shot.

As she sat there next to Emma, her eyes became distant as she held the empty vial in her hand.

"If we had to discuss the doll store one more time, I was going to have to call it," Emma said with relief. "Were we ever this young?!" she asked Renee.

"I was. I suspect you weren't," Renee answered seriously.

Emma smirked. "True enough, the man renovated my room three times in the last fifteen years, my dolls went with the first demolition back when I was five."

"So don't look down upon Sally because she is a spoiled rich kid who has parents that allow her to buy whatever she wants. In the end, her parents are just as careless and unloving as your father was to you. Just in a very opposite way," Renee lectured.

"Fair enough," Emma agreed, actually taking in the constructive criticism without being offended.

Renee turned and smiled at Temmit, "I think she is ready for you now Mr. Talkative."

"Here's a thought: why don't *you* conduct the interview? She's likely a lot more comfortable with you now than with you...that didn't sound right, but you know what I mean." Smokey was irritated, apparently.

'I do, and shush." Temmit responded as he rose from his spot near the fire and spoke to Sally.

"What is your full name?" He asked the girl.

"Sally Renee Maiden," the girl stated plainly.

"How old are you," he asked, completing the second required question to establish the potion's effect.

"I am nine," she answered.

"Were you in the home on the lake when it caught fire?"

"I was, I hid until the fire went out."

"Where did you hide?"

"In my parent's secret basement."

Temmit turned to Renee and said, "Get ready to go over the last few items that you bought, to cover the hole in her memory and give her some continuity."

"You have no special abilities that someone might take for magic?" He asked Sally.

"Lord No." she said.

Temmit delivered a withering look at Renee. "No doubt that this will at some point lead to laughter." He swept his arm wide, indicating that Renee should take over. They would now have to extract themselves from this home elegantly.

Renee asked another question. "Sally, why is the basement room secret?"

"Because it's my parent's game room." she answered, still in a daze but Renee knew she had little time.

"What kind of game room?" she asked.

"Overheard my Mom call it a place where Daddy and his buddies gamble." she answered. (OOC: illegal)

"Did the authorities in Lakeshore find out?" she asked.

"Yes, the Captain, my Daddy's buddy, said to just tell people that I was in the shower."

Renee raised her eyebrows at Temmit. "Good to know," she said.

Almost immediately after Renee's took the empty vial from Sally's hand, she came out of the potions affects.

"That was weird," she paused for a moment, "what were we talking about?" she asked.

"The porcelain doll in Unique Toys," Emma spoke up and Temmit's heart sank at the thought of another hand of idiocy.

Renee spoke up and saved him though. "I hate to say this but I am supposed to report to the Protectors barracks soon, my friends and I really need to go Sally. I am so sorry, I really do wish we could stay," she said it with a sincerity that even Temmit believed.

"Oh, not a problem, thank you guys for such a fun afternoon, it was really cool hanging out," the small girl replied, trying to be "mature".

The three grabbed their coats, boots and cloaks and went back out into the cold mid-afternoon air, waving to Sally one last time as they headed down the street.

After the trio was a safe distance away from the home, Temmit spoke quiety. "For all the work *that one* took, it's a shame to come away without a candidate." He reflected a moment then. "Still, we do have a new item to use for blackmail. We should probably go out of our way to find out where that family's house is, and who is the Captain in that region."

Renee after a moment said, "well...with our next interview not until tomorrow, I think I will go back to the library and get the address, I am pretty sure it was listed but didn't make note of it at the time.

She stopped walking and turned to Emma, a light snow had started and was lightly spotting their hoods with fresh white crystals.

"What time was that opening to talk to Marcus tomorrow?" she asked her.

"His mother is bringing him in tomorrow morning and because it's Restday. The cluelessly devout woman wouldn't think to bring even her own son in on Prayday, lest she anger her[/b] God. I am fairly sure the medical priests won't see him until early afternoon. So I am thinking 10 dawn-hand would be good." Emma replied in obvious displeasure in regard to the church.

"Why again is she bringing him in after almost an entire month has passed since the incident?" Renee asked.

"Her written statement in medical priests records is that she has noted "...an increase in physical strength and energy. My son seems to be far more extroverted and a bit unruly since his adventure[/b] and has been a bit flamboyant[/b] at school." Emma answered.

Renee thought for another moment, then reiterated the entire history of the boy's history, as if thinking out loud.

"So he was lost just after the FallEnd school break while visiting his father who lives near the southern border of the Outer-Rim."

Emma nodded, but Renee didn't look up and merely continued.

"After a week and a half in the woods, he is found without a hair out of place, and eventually brought back to school. Once there he spends about a month as a bit more cocky, is that what I am hearing with that report?" Renee asked, looking up this time.

"Sounds like that could be it." Emma replied.

Renee turned to Temmit, "what do you think Snowman?"

"Snowman?!" Smokey exclaimed. "She's jsut getting funnier every day, eh? Well, here's what we're going to tell her that you think: This kid was obviously infected by a demon, and now has demon blood in him. I'll bet you can't even see him at night if he doesn't smile or open his eyes..."

Temmit didn't respond to Smokey, but he did continue listening to the crystal's tale as he considered Renee's direct question.

"A kid who's suddenly energetic, extraverted, cocky, and flamboyant?" He asked, summing the situation up for his own benefit. "And one shall lead to danger." He quoted Mia's foretelling.

"What do you think it all means?" Renee asked. "You think the boy may have found his power such to his liking that he may now have a bit of a chip on his shoulder?"

Emma then said, "I really don't know a lot about this kid, he is twelve, but I can't even remember what House he is in."

Renee returned, "I think he is in The Actors."

Both girls looked at Temmit.

"All I'm truly sure of is that I don't know." Temmit uttered his well-worn quip as the two girls rolled their eyes.

"There's no way to know without meeting him, but I wouldn't be too surprised to find that he's suddenly confident in a new-found ability, and so he's not afraid of...whatever made him nervous before. One can hypothesize that the danger that he will lead to would be born of an inability to 'take one on the chin' without using his abilities, thus revealing his true nature, in turn jeopardizing the clan."

He bobbed his head slightly, trying the theory on. Smokey whispered to him, and Temmit found himself speaking exactly as Smokey did, saying, "On the other hand, he might just fart fireballs."

Both girls burst out laughing as they were caught off-guard by what was a rare joke from their usually serious friend.

After many moments of giggling, Renee, who looked at Temmit now with a little more affection than he was comfortable with said, " I am thinking its the former. He probably encountered something in the Wildlands and summarily defeated it without a problem. So in a way, he could be very much like Mia, enjoying his newly-found power without realizing how much trouble it could get him into."

Temmit shifted uncomfortably while his friends laughed. "Why do you insist on getting me into trouble?" He asked of Smokey.

"It wasn't me." Smokey objected. Of course, it was him, but that didn't matter all of a sudden.

"Well, I certainly will hope that it's just immaturity and not bravado. We just have to hope that he cares enough to curb any tendencies that he might have."

They were coming into more crowded areas then, so he changed the subject. "What's on for the rest of the day?" He asked. His stomach growled noisily just then, revealing what he hoped might be next.

"Well, I think that is it for the day my friends," Renee announced. "I am going to go over to the library and then head off to Lakeshore for the evening to check on that lead. Since the Captain won't be back until tomorrow's eve, I won't be missed."

Temmit noted that her face became hard on that admittance.

Emma spoke up to ease the tension. "I think I will check out Leslie's performance tonight, after I check in at the Church of course. Leslie said she was going to attempt at 8 night-hand start."

"All right then." Temmit said as he pulled his head deeper into his hood. "I'm off to eat then, and I'll meet you two in the morning." In the back of his mind, Temmit made a design to attend the performance that Emma mentioned. First, he needed more coffee, and some food though.

"I will meet you two about 15 turns before 10 dawn-hand at the North Gate to Temple, I will be there to let you by the guards," Emma said and with that waved goodbye as she headed off.

"Um...Temmit," Renee said, turning his attention back, an eyeball just barely seen by her from under his hood. She suddenly looked a bit unsure of herself, "um...have a good evening," she said meakly and turned away, heading back to the School District and the library.

"Are you sure that's what you wanted to say?" He asked her pointedly.

"Nice cheeks though, eh?" Temmit was determined to not let Smokey get him into trouble.

Renee stopped in her tracks and paused a moment before turning, Temmit and her were about ten paces away from each other. The snow was now coming straight down in large flakes and at the moment the road which they stood upon was very quiet.

Temmit was always aware of Renee's good looks, but at the moment she turned to face him, the sheer beauty of her was an absolute vision of loveliness. Standing in front of the eastern gate to the Park, her silhouette was in sharp contrast to the wintry scene of sleeping trees behind her. Her red hair, poking from the inside of her hood framed her face before the snowy-white background. Her emerald eyes looked straight into him with affection he had seen hints of since the meeting.

It was his turn to feel meek.

"Thanks for listening to me last night, and being a perfect gentleman," she said without approaching, her hands crossing behind her back. She lifted the weight off of one foot and swung her ankle lightly back and forth, the toes still anchored in the snow. (OOC: I love it when girls do that.)

Temmit sensed that this was the sincere Renee, not the coy one playing the game last night.

"I can't tell you how much it meant to me to finally have someone to talk too, and you didn't make me feel..." she lowered her gaze in shame for just a moment, then returned to Temmit's gaze, "...like a whore.[/b]"

The word was kind of a shocking ending to what otherwise had been a gentle and complimentary sentiment.

Quote from: Dray...the toes still anchored in the snow. (OOC: I love it when girls do that.)

I don't think that I've ever actually seen a girl do that, other than in cartoons or porn.

Temmit noded to Renee in understanding. "We all need people to talk to. People you can actually trust." He said. "Tell you what: for the price of a large coffee and a fat sandwich (and perhaps a scone for later), I'll be glad to go with you to Lakeshore." He smiled slightly then. "Of course, I'll be glad to accompany you regardless of the food; you just might have to wait for me to get that for myself."

(OOC: I think you are thinking of other[/b] exaggerated movements, I speak of simple femininity that although lost upon many girls in today's society, is still seen outside of the porn genre. That being said, could you burn me a copy of that one?!)

A smile and a blush accompanied Renee's response. "That would quite lov...um, cold. Come on," she waved him over, "I think you still have my coin pouch anyway." She said with a giggle.

(OOC: Sent you an email asking for which direction you now want to go.)
