Hearing that Emma was confiding in others, Harrison couldn't help but feel a little less special. He thought her attentions were entirely on her studies, and Harrison. For a moment Harrison was jealous.

"Well," he said with a sigh. "Emma seems to trust you, as I do her. Now I gotta figure out what I'm going to do with this..." he began to thumb through the book again.

Belwar scowled as he wiped the fresh blood from his Axe using a scrap of cloth he'd torn from a fallen giant's shirt. He wondered to himself if this was going to be something that he'd have to contend with if and when they were successful in relocating the Gracchi.

He knew that there'd always be adversaries, and there'd inevitably be conflict at some point. Belwar sighed admitting only to himself that he wouldn't mind a break from the bloodshed. Grinning, he said to himself, Ach, yer soundin like an old man!

Satisfied that his Axe was as clean as this not-so-clean rag would make it, Belwar turned his attentions to the rest of the group. Having given chase to the fleeing foes, they were down field. They'd caught the giant and finished the job, but a couple of Gnolls seemed to have gotten away. Just as well, Belwar thought. Perhaps they'll teach their families to think twice before planning against a Dwarven temple!

The thought struck Belwar like a bolt from the skies. He'd heard Zurn talk about events that Belwar had always dismissed as coincidence before. uncomfortably, Belwar turned his eyes to the sky and wondered if Moradin had sent the formidable group from the Keep to this spot to help rid a threat? Could it be more than coincidence that the group came upon a mound of stones?

The thought sent shivers down Belwar's spine. A strange feeling washed over him that he couldn't readily identify. It was a feeling that someone was watching. Not merely watching him, but watching over him. It was slightly creepy a feeling, and yet comforting. The thought brought a strange calm over Belwar, regardless of the rush that was present during and after a heated battle.

He wondered what Zurn would say.

Belwar turned his attentions to the rest of the group, and walked out to rejoin them.

Harrison went into high alert. His eyes snapped up from the book to bore a hole in Michael's face. "How many people actually know I'm looking for..." Harrison lowered his voice. "...know what I'm looking to do?"

Laren's grin grew broader. "You know me so well. The sun is at it's pinnacle somewhere!"

Harrison looked up at the older boy, and nodded. "Oh yes. Sure. Of course..." his nodding slowed a moment, and turned to shaking. "No... No, I don't. Not at all."

Only at that moment did Laren feel particularly strong feelings of homesickness. He'd convinced himself that it wasn't such a loss that he couldn't go back to his home town for good. That single self-preserving belief was complete shattered when he stepped through the doorway and into the merriment of his past.

Laren stood watching again for the first time what he loved so much about home. As much as he'd come to like Threshold over the last (what, couple of weeks?!?) he admitted to himself that Kurr would always be home. Laren made a promise to himself that he'd one day walk these streets unafraid again. One way or another, Laren would see the end of Crimon's reign over the shadows of Kurr. He owed that much to his father.

Laren scoffed at himself and said under his breath "Hell, you owe that to yourself!"

Laren had decided on his way that he needed a disguise to avoid trouble, but he'd just changed his mind. He still needed a disguise, only now it was to help him get closer to the trouble he'd wanted to avoid. This was where he belonged, and he would never feel unwelcomed again.

The now-bald halfling drew a confident breath, and felt his nervous energy fade. He was not foolish enough to believe he could trust everyone in the room, but he also knew the nature of a barroom full of roudy gnomes and dwarfs. They were all too busy enjoying themselves to really notice just another halfling.

Gibble was busy trying to sand the spots off of a plate with his rag, his customary smirk changed only slightly by the look of irritated scrubbing. Laren squared his shoulders and strolled up to bar and sat in front of the preoccupied Gibble, wearing a similar smirk of his own.

Ballorie nodded her head, her leafy hair flowing gently like a shrub in the breeze. "I will know and act accordingly. Good luck sheppard. Sleep now, for no danger shall come to pass this night."

She bowed slightly as she stepped backwards into the trunk of the tree from whence she came.

"I know nothing further. If your intent is to catch up with them, I can slow their process, you could catch them quickly. If this is not your intent, I will let them pass."

Harrison's face flushed. He couldn't believe Emma would ask someone to find out information like this! What else had she told this Kristen person??

He took a deep breath. This was the second time she'd exhibited what Harrison considered poor judgement. The first time was when she read her father's book.

Well, he thought. Nothing to be done about it now. All I can do is hope she knows what she's doing.

Harrison was a little vexed though. He decided not to send a response. He killed some time until close to 6, and headed over. He kept his expectations low. How much information could there truely be on his rat-bastard father anyway?

Still, he had little to lose.

Quote from: Dray...the second day promises to be even more interesting than the first.

Let's hope so! :P

"Yeah," Harrison agreed. "It really does seem too good to be true."

Harrison scratched Clives chin, and handed him a wafer.

"You be courteous to your new stable-mate, Triumph," Harrison said to his friend. The name felt cumbersom on Harrison's tongue. Looking the horse over, he felt like the name wasn't exactly fitting. Sure, he was magnificent, and "Triumph" wasn't a BAD name...

Harrison had found that people tended to name their animals without much consideration for what the animal liked. To Harrison, Triumph just didn't seem to like the name much. It seemed like more of a nickname.

Harrison pursed his lips, rubbed the horse's snout and said whispered "We'll work on that later. You think about what you want your name to be."

Harrison realized he was paying more attention to Horse than to Emma. He glanced side long at her. Fortuntely she knew Harrison well enough that she wouldn't find it strange that he was talking to a horse.

She was pretending to fuss with the top button on her sweater.

Harrison glanced back at the horse and winked. We'll talk later friend, he said in his mind.

He walked over to stand in front of Emma. "How's a warm cup of tea sound?"

"Hello guildmaster," he said while tending to Triumph's gear.

As he began to remove the bit and bridal, he cocked his head and looked at Emma and said, "Did you bring my rat?"

Harrison pulled up beside her. He said nothing, merely looked at her with a warm smile.

Harrison really didn't feel like company, but he knew there was strength in numbers, so he gently coached Triumph into moving just a bit faster to sooner catch the other rider.

Perhaps he'd get lucky, and whoever it was wouldn't want to talk.

With a hand on his now-rumbling belly, Laren set of to the Half Pint, wondering exactly what to say. Clearly he would order some food, but how do you greet a friend like Gibble after everything that's happened?

Before he knew it, he was pushing open the door, and peering into the familiar eatery.
