Maal Brengain approaches the front entrance of the temple and knocks one of the knockers hard against the door with two raps. Then, without further hesitation, she attempts to open the door and enter the temple.

Maal Brengain follows Maccabeus into the temple and stands silently at his side. She nods once in affirmation as he describes the winged serpent. "Th' beast took th' teeth outta th' dead folk in th' caves too. Human teeth... Can ye perhaps think o' any reason fer tha'?"

Then in answer to Severen's invitation, "I shall 'ave ta decline yer offer o' wine, Severen. I intend ta keep me wits aboot me tonight since there 'as been an attack on th' town. I should like ta stay an' speak with ye, though, if'n ye dinna mind."

"Hold a moment," Maal Brengain interrupts. "Ye 're sayin' tha' those dead folk in th' cave will rise from th' dead an' walk ag'in!? For wha' purpose? Will they attack th' town? An' how can they be stopped if'n they already be dead?" The Wildlander's brow is furrowed as she struggles to understand this latest bit of information.

"Aye, I mus' be goin' as well.  Yet, I would ask one more question o' ye..." Maal Brengain interjects.

"I, um, am curious - an' e'en innerested - aboot yer faith, Severen.  How can I learn more?  I may e'en want ta become one o' yer followers..."

Ha!  You're too quick!  I was just e-mailing WF about this, explaining my characters motivations, and mentioned Dale and his anticipated reaction to this in my message.  Heh!

"Aye, Severen! I dinna mean t'night.  I wanted ta mention it ta ye is all.  Ye are righ' tha' I need ta go get some rest now.  I'll return in a day or so ta talk with ye some more aboot it."

With that, Maal Brengain turns abruptly and heads towards the door.

"Oh my!" Arlen exclaimed softly. "Well, any suggestion would be appreciated, as this has been a worry on my mind," he whispered. "What do you suggest, Beloved?" he asked while arching an eyebrow.

Arlen glances down from Beloved's hand to his own. He is unsure as to whether she wants his hand palm up or palm down... Finally, he places his right hand palm up on top of hers. He then looks at her face to gauge her expression and hopefully determine if he's made the correct choice.

Arlen responds after Beloved has finished:

"Hmmm! I... I feel a tingling in my hand and arm. Is this good, Beloved? Am I protected now? Could you, perhaps, tell me how I am protected? I didn't recognize the song that you were humming"

Then after a slight pause, "And would you be able to grant the same protection on Zurn as well?"

"Hail Severen. Well, as ye can see we're both injured an' are heading ta Ashe's house ta request some healing?"

Maal Brengain indicates the two arrows that protrude from her armor on her right side.  The first arrow shaft, embedded in front of her right arm, is broken in half. The second, embedded behind her arm, is still intact. Although she won't admit it or show it, she is in a great deal of pain. The arrows move about slightly in the wounds as she walks and moves and her armor shifts about over her body.

"So, this be a bad time fer ye ta be askin' fer favors," she continues. "Yet? I would be willin' ta remain and be witness to yer actions if'n ye can treat me wounds in some way once I've removed these arrows? What say ye? Is tha' something ye can do fer me?"

Maal Brengain turns partially to greet the gnome and wolf without letting Severen leave her peripheral vision, "Steady, Maccabeus, I'll be fine. There was an attack on th' town this evening... We fought 'em off..."

Turning her attention back to Severen for a moment, the Wildlander fixes her stare upon the priest, "Hmph... I ne'er 'eard o' a priest tha' couldna treat wounds. Well, perhaps Maccabeus here will consent ta remain an' bear witness to yer actions while Dale an' me go to get our wounds treated. Why don' ye tell 'im wha ye need?"

Maal follows Dale in silence...

Maal Brengain steps into Ashe's home.

"Aye, Ashe... we fought off some wolf-rats an' cloaked archers. Matter o' fact we captured one o' th' men an' 'ave 'im locked up b'hind the Council House right now, e'en as we speak..."

"Oh no ye don'!" Maal Brengain replies as she gently, but forcefully, pushes the mug away. "Yer no' puttin' me ta sleep ag'in as ye did b'fore! No' when thar be enemies aboot. This is when we are most vulnerable - jus' after an attack when we are wounded - an' I don' want half of our Protec'trate useless in a deep slumber!

"B'sides, these arrows aren't very deep a' all. I know how ta turn me body ta avoid takin' em full on, an' me armor helped absorb some o' th' impact too, methinks... I jus need ye to treat and bandage th' wounds once I pull 'em free."

With a sneer of defiance, the wildlander grasps the shaft of the shorter, broken arrow with her left hand and jerks it free from her flesh and armor. Blood oozes from the aggravated wound...

[color=green:4bcf76eb66]OOC: My thinking here is that Maal took a total of 7 points of damage from the two arrow strikes. That's really not much compared to her total of 39 HP, so they couldn't be very deep wounds...[/color]

"Er, well I still got another in me back 'ere..." Maal Brengain indicates the second arrow sticking out of her right side behind her arm.

"This one's jus' a bit deeper, so I'll let ye handle it... An' I got a slight gash o'er 'ere from a sword tha' ye should maybe look at. I can wait 'til after ye 'ave tended ta Dale... Yer still no' puttin' me ta sleep, though!"
