"Me too." Jarmok returned. "Slave. I think." He chuckled to slightly at that. "Who hunts Kit?"

"Everyone hunted." Jarmok smiled. "Don't (grimmacing) know who. Or if (eyebrows raised). Slave (gestures his chin at Kit)? In Aldebaron?"

"No Joke. Just not know." Jarmok answered "Trust funny. Difficult. I trust me. Personal decision. Ee-moshunal girl easier read than tracks of wagons (fists in front of his chest, passing from left to right)." Jarmok smiled. "Seems real."

"I'm here (gestures at the cabin) two (two long fingers held up) Istisha's cycles. Not long, but longer than others. My Mercer here very long." He took the battle axe from his side and showed it to his two visitors. The fire light reflected off of the bronzewood head oddly. "Is made special. Bronzewood. Is Threshold symbol for trust. Ask Julius. Then trust. Or trust now, answer in your heart, not my mouth." He smiled fondly at the pair across the fire.

Jarmok leapt up from the spot where he crouched next to the fire and went to a covered barrel that stood next to the cabin. Taking a large cup from a hanger next to the barrel, and sliding the cover aside, he dipped the cup and returned to proffer the cup to Kit.

He then reclaimed his spot next to the fire and attended the continuing saga.

Jarmok moved around the fire to comfort his friend. "Is enough." He said sympathetically. "Kit's spirit hurt most. Not your fault, but not alone now, never again, except your want to be."

He held the sob-wracked lass for a long while, not knowing what else to do. "Mercer say: 'evil win if good men do nothing'." He mused. A long, low growl escaped from deep within the outlander's lean chest.

"P'r-tek-t'ret help eachother. No more evil here." It sounded oddly like he was making a pledge of sorts, or reiterating one that he had already made.

Although his words were broken, his voice was smooth and sturdy, fueled, it seemed, by some deep-seated inner rage, the bredth of which sounded further-reaching than the violation of an innocent child.

Jarmok cast an annoyed glance at the anxious halfling, but did not address his request.

"Odd thing." He said quietly. "Have no memory beyond Grumbar's last cycle. Thought that bad." He shook his head sadly, patting Kit's head as it lay on his shoulder. "Memories maybe worse than none."

He looked up then, and Laren noted that Jarmok seemed to be counting in his head and a small, odd smile crept onto the lean, foriegn face. "Kit get freedom same time? Last time Grumbar full? Start life same time? Twins!" He chuckled at his own joke, hoping that the young girl's mood might improve.

Jarmok grunted and shook his head negatively. "Late." He offered. "Go rest. See you in morning." He smiled as the two companions made their way back into Threshold proper.

After a moment, the words of his question caught up to her mind.

"What do you mean by secret? We all hurt the rats and lizards." she said.[/quote]...ripping. Is your...help? Is OK; better, really. Help is always good; saved my life. Others too. You don't like help, yes?

Quote from: Dray"Then yes. I have the abilities of a Seer." She waited for a response. When she got none she continued.

"But I am a freak Jarmock...intellect...Seers...emotion...hurt my friends,"...afraid to look at Jarmock.
me[/i] alive. I will keep secret; you need help, I will help." He looked up at the young girl sympathetically then cocked his head slightly, straining to hear.

"People wake. I go home." He rose smoothly to his full height, eye-to-eye with his new friend and took her small, smooth, delicate hand between his calloused, long-fingered ones. Fresh, not-quite-healed scratches and deep tears evidenced themselves on the back of his upper hand and upon his forearm. Kit wondered why she hadn't seen them earlier.

"I will help you." He reiterated. "Trust in self."

He looked again up and down the street and over the Rosewalk (I think), appearing like cornered prey. Then turned to leave.

Stopping a short distance and turning to face Kit, Jarmok asks: "You fix armor?" He indicates his shoulder where the armor is torn and bloody. "I clean, find you in morning?"

Jarmok looks down at himself pondering..."I leave at Inn." He suggested. "Have to change".

Melting quickly into the trees on the eastern edge of Threshold, Jarmok returned to his cabin, his morning plans suddenly changed. He changed out of his damaged armor and bundled it as Mercer taught him.

Donning brown britches and fir-green tunic, Axe and Bow, he bounded down the hills back into Threshold to leave his armor at the Thornhedge. As is his habit, he opened the door only wide enough for him to slip in, and then approached Kalten. Holding his bundled chest plate indicitively, he stated loudly enough for Kalten to hear, but no louder: "For Kit."
