Dale extends his hand towards Kit and offers to help pull her up again.   "Are you sure you're up for this?"  Without waiting for a reply Dale looks around.   "Is there anyone else who isn't up for going into the fort?"
Blackspear
"My first encounter with a dragon was fortuitous.  I lost my mount, had the chain torn from my chest, and was pinned to the ground by a claw that pierced my leg.   I would limp for the rest of my life, but I never felt more alive...

Dray

"Well, um....no," said Kit, slightly embarrassed.

Blackspear

"My reasoning is that it will take all of us to bring that monstrosity down.   If we all go in together, we can be bottled up and killed off one at a time.  Meanwhile we will only be able to bring one or two of us to fight Vervishkuk at once.   If we attack him from two sides we can catch him in a deadly cross fire and all of us can get in on the kill.

"There is a great risk to my plan.  By dividing, we can be isolated and attacked.   Thereby making it easier for Vervishkuk and his compatriots to kill us.  Its a risk.   But I think we're in big trouble if we all go in together.   Do you have any better ideas?"  Dale looks at the young girl and waits patiently for a reply.

"Split up in a monster's lair?" Kit asked with a surprised questioning look.

She grimaced and lowered gently back to the ground, rubbing her back with her right hand.

"You sure that is a good idea?"

Blackspear

"If we are all in and only if we are all in on this, I suggest we split our forces again.   Kit, Laren and Ragnor should go to the cave and enter the fort that way.    You will also be able to prevent Vervishkuk from running out the back door.   Jarmok, Maal, and myself will enter the fort from that door over there.   We will be able to attack from two sides at once if we are lucky.

"If possible, we should try to coordinate our attacks.   If Jarmok, Maal and I start the battle, the three of you can fire your bows at the big bastard from a distance.   If you wait hidden at the edge of  the cave, you will hear the battle and the can rush in to join us.  Hopefully, we can take him by surprise again.  The only variable is the dark priest and any other lackeys that they might be hiding.

"Sayer, you can guard the councillors and keep them safe.  If you see any more troops coming, you can warn us and escort the councillors to Threshold.   If we get captured, get back to Threshold and get us a rescue.   Ashe and Julius would know what to do.

"Does anyone have any questions or better ideas?"   Dale looks at each member of the group, even the councillors.

With her eyes still closed, Kit shook her head. She took a slow controlled intake of breath and opened her eyes. She said, "an injury from a few days ago. I thought it was nothing at the time, but the battle must of aggravated it."

She looked over at Laren. "A simple fall off a horse. Let me just get my breath, it doesn't seem to be getting worse."

As she leaned forward in an attempt to stretch her back, her bare back became fully exposed. In between the bottom of her leather tunic and the top of her skirt was a ovate reddish bruise, approximately 4 inches wide and 2 inches tall.

Kit sat up, and with a lot of obvious effort stood up.

"I am okay, what's the plan?"

Blackspear

"Kit, what's wrong?  Are you hurt?"   Dale kneels next to her trying to ascertain the extent of her injury.

Kit gently shook Jarmok's hand and upon his gaze whispered 'thank you' to him.

As she got up off the ground she winced and put a hand to her lower back. She groaned a bit in pain and after a moment sat back on the ground, one hand still touching her back.

The three council members look about in confusion. Svenia peers up to the silver sheened man points at him and says, "Ragnar, right?..." as if to make sure she got his name correct. "...although we had sacks over our heads I'm reasonably certain that the whispering was from the men that brought us here."

Himo, What on earth did you just write?  I'm not down with your lingo.  Could you please translate that into english?  Thanks. :?

"Jarmok, we need a better plan than that.   What happens if you guys get into trouble and we aren't there to help you?  We should all go together.  Or at the very least have half of us cover the cave with bows while the other half goes into the fort.  That way Vervishkuk can't escape out the back door."

Avalon says, "We met the priests on our recuitment goodwill tour to the city-states. I don't know if they fell easily because when the dark ones attacked we we engulfed in shadows and couldn't see...none of us could see...except for maybe our attackers.'

Svenia continues, "From what I gathered, Amethia was just new to the priest hood."

Avalon says, "All of them were fairly young. I don't imagine they had much expeience as priests. As for the dark priest we only caught a short glimpse which was him coming down the stairs and looking with interest at the three priests."

"Is too much." Jarmok objected. He looked to Dale, his eyes hard. "We go inside." He said decisively. "Maal, Kit, Laren, me all go inside look for Priestes. "Sayer, Dale, Ragnor, stay outside, lookout and call if en-mies come. Serach fast, find what can, need out before sun past top. At Threshold ere night."

He looked among the gathered, his glare seeking understanding, not additional conversation.
