Sayer stood by and listened.  His hands were folded in front of him.

"What is our decision?"

Sayer recommends taking some form of cover, either within the walls of the fortress (in one of teh rooms?) or outside of the ruins within the treeline (perhaps at the location north of the keep from where Kit and Sayer approached).

Waiting in the open courtyard is foolhardy.

Sayer stood by, watching the confrontation.  His casting was becoming realized: Rely on your wits/but not on each other.  The two weak moon runes within that reading had concerned him, for he knew that social conflict within this group would surface.  He was now seeing it happen.

Sayer was more concerned with the two weak earth runes: there would be more conflict, but of a physical nature.  Although he was encouraged by two strong sun runes -- a goal achieved -- he was not optimistic that this quest would have the conclusion that the others expected.  They would find their priests, but perhaps not in a condition that they had hoped to find them.

He thought about the first casting.  Five strong suns.  Sayer smiled to himself.  This group would achieve its goal...assuming that they could agree on one goal to acheive.

The first rune reading was: earth SUN SUN SUN SUN SUN.  The second rune reading was: earth moon SUN moon earth SUN.

As Jarmok and Kit enter the keep, Sayer turns to the council members.  His expression is serious, but there is still charm in his voice. "Ladies, please follow me."

Quote from: darkred:6d9135d09aIf Sayer makes eye contact with Maal, he will say this to her, otherwise he will turn away and speak these words over his shoulder as he walks to the exit: "We will wait in the treeline until the sun is at six hands in height [noonish?]. At that time, the counsellors and I shall make our way to Threshold.  That should give us just enough daylight to return to town."

Sayer adds matter-of-factly "if you do not join us by this time, we shall not come back to look for you.  Remember my earlier words of counsel.  Good luck."

Sayer responds.  "I would appreciate an able swordsman to protect the counsellors.  Please come with us."

My mistake was announcing this game before having the material ready.  I shall not repeat that mistake.

Work on Shadowlands happens daily.  I think of it day and night.  I'm missing some plot hooks; once those develop, we should be able to begin.

Oh yeah.  I probably should finish the map/land history, first.  Hm.

This is not the case; in fact te opposite is true: I'm very pleased (and a little frightened) that there is so much interest in this setting!  I can only hope to meet your expectations -- providing that you all keep your expectations low. :)

A milestone was reached this evening: I've completed designing the Shadowlands map!

I'll add some finishing touches to it over the next couple of evenings, and once that is completed I will begin posting the Shadowlands Almanac.  This will be a basic summary of the western kingdoms, giving the players a feel for the setting.

Thanks again for your patience. :)

At the mention of Himo's name, Mirri looked in the direction where he had gone.  She could no longer hear Himo pushing through the thick underbrush.

She stretched and stood, frowning.  "He should not travel alone so deep into the woods.  I will bring him back."

In Character Discussions / Writing a report
December 07, 2005, 12:54:44 AM
This would take place during Jarmok, Maal and Dale's patrolling of the woodlands.

Sayer's small writing desk was cluttered with scraps of papers.  He wrote out several notes regarding this evening's attack on the eastern side of town.

Blazing buildings, dark denizens, viscerated villagers, stealthy snipers.  Sayer had hastily scribbled the specifics of the events on numerous pieces of parchments.  He sorted through his notes and began composing his report for Julius.  He wrote quickly and fluidly, summarizing in his beautiful handwriting the events of the evening.  He then listed the specifics: the number of buildings that burned, the number of citizens that were killed, the number of corpse-eaters that were among the buildings, and finally the number of archers that were defeated.

There was one detail that Sayer could not include in his report: why?  Why did this attack happen?  Sayer would want this question answered before writing a similar report to the Arch Duke of Kurr.

Sayer formulated a thought.  Julius may have that answer.  Surely he would be awake at this hour, having been alerted to this evening's incident.  If Sayer could present his report to Julius now and make some casual inquires...

Sayer stood, and prepared his report for delivery.  After sealing the parchment with wax, he wrapped his cloak around himself and stepped out into the evening air.

Mirri stopped and cocked her head, watching the elf clamber upon the rocks.

"Meow," she said plainly.
